My name is Helle Eggebrecht, I was born in Denmark in 1942 and have lived and worked in Germany since 1962.
Besides bringing up my three children, I have devoted myself to various textile techniques since 1972, have been a member of the Patchwork Gilde Deutschland since 1985 and studied textile and clothing technology as well as religious education at the University of Hanover from 1985 to 1992.
Participation in group and solo exhibitions at home and abroad, including Bern/CH, Posen/PL, Frederikshavn/DK, “World Quilt Carnival” Nagoya/JN and I., II. and VII. Quilt-Triennale “Tradition and Modernity” in Heidelberg.
Publications: B. Staub-Wachsmuth: “Hobby Patchwork und Quilten” 1985; NOBILIS, Hannover 1989/2; “Patchwork. Künstler und ihre Werke”, OZ-Verlag 2004; approx. 30 articles in “Patchwork Gilde Deutschland”, in Denmark and Norway.
Since 1978, I have been teaching batik, felting and spinning, design and colour theory, patchwork and quilting at the University of Hanover, VHS Nds. and LEB, German Patchwork Guild and many summer schools.
In 1988, I learned kimono sewing from Yvonne Porcella. Since then I have given over 100 courses in kimono sewing and sashiko embroidery.
