The first block of this quilt wasn’t even finished yet when questions flooded my mailbox! “Is there going to be a pattern of this quilt? And a class? These curved seams look very nice, but also quite difficult and I would like to learn how to sew them!”

We will start this class with tips & tricks on how to choose your fabrics and colors. Each block contains 59 different fabrics, all randomly chosen, but matching perfectly in the end.

Later, we will sew the curved seams. With a clear explanation and some great tips, you will not have any trouble on sewing those curves anymore! Even though everything is explained calmly and clearly, some experience in patchwork is required for this class.

Materials List:
1. Tools

  • Sewing thread, pins, needle, fabric scissors, thimble,…
  • Pencil, sand paper, glue stick and scissors (both for paper)

2. Materials for One Block

  • Ecru (background): 45 cm x 110 cm
  • 37 assorted colored fabrics,each: 8 cm x 8 cm
  • 6 assorted fabrics, each: 10 cm x 15 cm
  • 8 assorted blue fabrics, each: 5 cm x 15 cm
  • 8 assorted pink/red fabrics, each: 7 cm x 20 cm

3. Materials for Entire Quilt

  • Ecru (background for blocks): 420 cm x 110 cm
  • 6 assorted ecru fabrics (flying geese and corner blocks), each: 30 cm x 110 cm
  • 333 assorted colored fabrics (center of the circle, blocks and points of the circle), each: 8 cm x 8 cm
  • 54 assorted colored fabrics (star points), each: 10 cm x 15 cm
  • 40 assorted blue fabrics (small circles), each: 5 cm x 15 cm
  • 32 assorted blue fabrics (large circles), each: 7 cm x 20 cm
  • 32 assorted pink/red fabrics (small circles), each: 5 cm x 15 cm
  • 40 assorted pink/red fabrics ( large circles) each: 7 cm x 20 cm
  • 144 assorted colored fabrics (flying geese), each: 7 cm x 12 cm
  • 144 assorted colored fabrics (half flying geese), each: 7 cm x 7 cm
  • Matching fabric (binding): 50 cm x 110 cm
  • Batting: 230 cm x 230 cm
  • Backing: 230 cm x 230 cm
